Here follows what my grandfather has researched.

Noyes Genealogy
In the year 1086, William des Noyers, follower of William the Conqueror, settled in Norfolk and Suffolk regions of England. It is believed that the family lived for 500 years in this narrow region. During these 500 years, it is though the "des" was dropped and Noyers shortened to Noyes.

The first ancestors which have been possible to trace was Robert Noyes of Cholderton, County Wilts, England, born before 1540. He was the father of sons Reverend William, born 1568; Robert, born 1570; Richard, date of birth unknown. Reverend William Noyes attended University College at Oxford. He entered college in 1588 and earned his B.A. in 1592. He married Anne Parker around 1595 and died before April 1622. They had 5 sons and one daughter. The third son, Reverend James, was born in 1608. Their fourth son, Nicholas, was born in 1615. Reverend James married Sarah Brown in 1632.

Reverend James and his wife, along with his brother Nicholas and a cousin, Thomas Parker, sailed from England on the ship "Mary and John" in 1633 and settled in Newbury, Massachusetts around 1634-35. The landing was probably on the bank of the Mystic River in Massachusetts.

Nicholas (the 4th son of Reverend William Noyes) married Mary Cutting in 1640 and had 11 children. Their fourth son, Timothy, was born in Newbury, Massachusetts, on June 13, 1655.

Timothy Noyes married Mary Knight in 1680. Their second son was Timothy, born January 1690.

Timothy Noyes married Lydia Plummer in 1718. Their first son, Sylvanus, was born February 24, 1719.

Sylvanus Noyes married Phoebe Chase in 1741. Their fourth son, Jonathon, was born April 6, 1764, in Plaistow, New Hampshire.

Jonathon Noyes married Betsy Morrill, year unknown. Their fourth son, David W., was born December 21, 1802, in Landoff, New Hampshire.

David W. Noyes married Olive Allen in 1826. They moved to Michigan in 1831. Their second son, Kirk W., was born April 22, 1830.

Kirk W. Noyes married Mittie covert, year unknown. They had 10 children. Their sixth son, Ralph G., was born on August 8, 1870.

Ralph G. Noyes married Cora dell Norman, year unknown. Their third son, Albert E., was born October 19, 1913.

Albert E. Noyes married Antonia Rodman on July 16, 1939, in Escanaba, Michigan. They had two sons, James Albert born March 26, 1943 and Ralph Richard born September 21, 1947.

James A. Noyes married Susan DeSalvatore on May 2, 1981 in Pasadena, California. They had three children, one daughter and two sons. Megan Marie born January 15, 1984; Christopher James born July 1, 1985; Michael Joseph born November 1, 1986.

Noyes Family Tree

My name is Christopher. It is my hope that this website/blog will enable me to track my family's genealogy as far back and as completely as I can. I will list what information I have and hopefully some other Noyes' out there will stumble across this and add their history to what I have.

This family tree was not started by me. My grandfather, Albert Edward Noyes began researching his genealogy many years ago. He is very curious about where our family was and currently is. I hope to continue what he started.
